East Wilkes Middle School, located near Ronda, North Carolina, is one of four public middle schools serving the chldren of Wilkes County. Students from C.B. Eller Elementary School, Roaring River Elementary School and Ronda-Clingman Elementary School enter as sixth graders. Upon completing the eighth grade our students enter East Wilkes High School.
East Wilkes Middle School and the three other Wilkes County middle schools opened their doors to students on August 8, 2002 after years of planning and construction. East Wilkes Middle School was built to provide a more comprehensive education to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in the East District of Wilkes County. Our students have an almost unprecedented amount of access to computers and the internet as well as other technological assets.
Each day approximately fifty adults brighten the doorways and halls of East Wilkes Middle School with one thought in mind, "We do what is best for children." Our faculty, staff, and administration serve approximately 440 students daily. In addition, our school works closely with parents through a strong, involved PTO to ensure that the East Wilkes community is meaningfully involved in our organization and operation. The intellectual foundation of East Wilkes Middle School's program is a diversified curriculum that emphasizes reading, writing, thinking, mathematics, science, social studies, technology, and the Arts. Our team approach allows our teachers, counselors, and admininstrators to better serve the social, emotional, and academic needs of general education, gifted and talented and special education students. We take pride in providing all of our students with opportunities to participate in our entire educational program.
