Welcome to Wilkesboro Elementary School. The students, staff, and parents are very proud of our school located at 1248 School Street in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. We are a part of the Wilkes County School System. Our school contains two self-contained exceptional children's classes, two pre-kindergarten classes, and two to four classes at each grade level, kindergarten through fifth. Approximately 420 students attend Wilkesboro School.
Wilkesboro Elementary School has a rich tradition of high student achievement. Students, staff, and parents should be proud of the North Carolina End-of-Grade test results from the 2011-2012 school year. Wilkesboro achieved high growth on the composite score for the end-of-grade tests in reading and math for grades three through five. At Wilkesboro, we were also on track with the federal reading targets for our subgroups but will need to focus a little more on the federal math targets for our subgroups.
In addition to having great students and a wonderful staff, we are fortunate to have an active PTO and volunteer program. The PTO is very supportive in all aspects of the school. This winning combination of great students, a dedicated staff, and outstanding parents makes Wilkesboro Elementary School a great place to work and learn!
