Welcome to Wilkesboro Elementary School. The students, staff, and parents are very proud of our school located at 1248 School Street in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. We are a part of the Wilkes County School System. Our school contains two self-contained exceptional children's classes, two pre-kindergarten classes, and three classes at each grade level, kindergarten through fifth. Approximately 412 students attend Wilkesboro School.
Wilkesboro Elementary School has a tradition of high student achievement. Students, staff and parents can be very proud of the end-of-grade test results from the 2008-2009 school year. Wilkesboro achieved high growth on the mathematics portion of the end-of-grade tests with a proficiency rate of 90%. In reading we had a proficiency rate of 76% and met expected growth. Overall our school achieved the status of a High Growth School of Distinction. Once again the hard work of students, staff, and parents has paid off. Our teachers did a tremendous job in challenging our students to reach higher levels of achievement.
In addition to having great students and a wonderful staff, we are fortunate to have an active PTO and volunteer program. The PTO is very supportive in all aspects of the school. This winning combination of great students, a dedicated staff, and outstanding parents makes Wilkesboro Elementary School a great place to work and learn!
